I’m not really into tech, but when I was able to get an invite to attend Acer’s event to its program related to education, I then didn’t hesitate to grab it. The fact that the topic is about enhancing how teaching should be done in easier, more convenient, and faster way, I thought to myself that I should be here.
Local tech giant Acer Philippines, Inc. heads off to the “Queen City of the South” to give Cebuanos the opportunity to get “Kong-nected.”
Acer is in Cebu City to meet its partners under the Acer Academy program. The technology titan will gather its partners for an exclusive session where they will be provided with fresh updates on the latest state-of-the-art products from Acer, plus other developments from its global partner, software king Microsoft.
It was a 4-hour trip for me to be able to attend and make it at the said event. Since I am away from the city for a couple of hours, I knew that I can’t make it on time considering the heavy traffic around the metro. I may haven’t seen Francis Kong personally but I am still glad that I was able to attend the discussion how the program works and its benefits to both teachers, students, and so as to the schools and universities who will take advantage of this program of Acer and Microsoft.
Anyway, later during the day, the highlight of the Acer Academy Cebu leg will be for its partners to experience a one-of-a-kind chance to meet Acer’s campaign ambassador, top inspirational speaker, newspaper columnist, author and award-winning business consultant, none other than Francis Kong.
As one of the country’s most recognizable and down-to-earth inspirational speakers, Mr. Kong narrated some of the most inspiring stories and his spot-on observation of all aspects of life and how it can be related to enriching one’s personal and professional being, especially when it comes to teaching. He also related how technology plays a significant part in people’s everyday lives, particularly those in the academic community. With its theme “Are you Kong-nected?,” Mr. Kong will provide an exclusive learning experience on the latest techniques with teaching and community building and how to utilize technology to its fullest potential. Among his other topics include getting connected to what teachers teach, defining gaps, connecting and what educators should do, and even the progress in being connected.

As member-schools of the program, the school and students enjoy several benefits such as Acer’s sponsorship of a school event, free training for the school faculty and IT personnel, a free computer laboratory dress up, plus a campus kiosk equipped with an Acer All-in-One.
